NY link to Knock Airport could be worth €50m locally

The recent link up between Ireland West Knock Airport and an airport in New York could be worth over 50 million euro to the local economy.

That’s according to the leas-Cathaoirleach of Sligo County Council Keith Henry who attended the recent announcement of a strategic partnership link up between Knock Airport and Stewart International Airport close to New York.

The aim of the partnership is to form an alliance between both airports in order to exchange information and eventually develop air access between the Irish west coast and the American east coast.

Councillor Henry said the partnership offers the potential to significantly boost the value of the North West’s economy should a permanent air link be established between both airports.
