€178m in water refunds could be taken from health, housing or roads



It’s emerged that spending originally intended for the likes of social housing, could be used to refund water charges instead.

It’s also been confirmed today that the State will have to spend €178 million on the refunds and another 5 million euro on the cost of administering the refunds.

Donegal Sinn Fein TD Pearse Doherty says it ‘defies logic’ to take money from an underspend in housing – an area so in need of investment.
