Concern over young people in Manorhamilton who are not in education or work

A Manorhamilton councillor has raised concerns over the numbers of young people around the North Leitrim town who, he says, seem to have dropped out of education, are not working and for whom ‘every day is the same.’

Independent Councillor Felim Gurn says that every day he sees these young people, 10 or 15 of them, aged about from 15 to 24.

He raised the issue during discussion of a Local Community Development Committee programme at a Manorhamilton Municipal District meeting of Leitrim County Council.

Cllr Gurn wondered how these young people could get information about such programmes or be included in them.
