Former Tanaiste Ray MacSharry is seeking to have comments made by Sinn Fein’s Mary Lou McDonald removed from the Dail’s record
She was found to have abused Dail privilege when she claimed in December 2014 that six named politicians had Ansbacher offshore accounts for tax evasion purposes.
She has been asked to withdraw the allegations but has not done so.
Mr MacSharry, who’s also a former finance minister and EU Agriculture Commissioner, is asking the Oireachtas Committee on Procedure and Privileges to remove references to him from the Dail record so as to restore his good name.
He says Deputy McDonald’s comments are entirely false.
