Major London medical conference moves to Sligo

A major London medical summit is moving to Sligo as a direct result of Brexit. Foot and ankle specialists will attend the 2017 Firefly Summit which is due to take place in Sligo on September 29th and 30th.

The summit will see 200 delegates, double the amount of attendees from its previous meeting, connect with the UK and Ireland’s most renowned podiatric consultants and practitioners.

Located at a number of sites across the county, including The Model in Sligo, the summit will see 21 of the profession’s top minds deliver a series of lectures while also sharing their experiences.

The conference, which takes place every three years, is expected to provide a boost of up to €320,000 to the local economy.

Firelfly manufactures and distributes foot orthoses to the podiatric proffesion, mainly in the UK. It also has foot and ankle clinics in Sligo, Donegal and Dublin and across the North.

Martin McGeough, founder and Medical Director of Firefly explained to Ocean FM News the reasons for moving the event to this region.
