IT Sligo tool-making apprentice in World Skills finals



A Sligo student will travel to the prestigious World Skills competition in Dubai later this year.

Micheál Flynn from Tubbercurry in County Sligo is currently on a tool making apprenticeship at IT Sligo. He was named the 2017 Ireland Skills national winner in Tool Making and Precision Die Engineering in April.

As a result, Micheál now goes on to the World Skills Finals in October.

The event is now in its 44th year and challenges young professionals around the world to become the best in the skill of their choice.

Micheál is currently serving his apprenticeship with Tool and Gauge in Tubbercurry in south County Sligo, and along with James McSwiney from County Louth, will represent in country at what is considered the world’s biggest professional education event.
