Taoiseach admits more investment needed in homecare packages



The Taoiseach says that there is a long way to go to meet the homecare needs of people around the country but insists the government is working to improve the scheme.

Leo Varadkar was responding to calls in the Dail this week to ensure that more investment is made in this sector.

Sinn Fein TD MaryLou McDonald raised the case of a 41 year old Leitrim woman who remains in intensive care in Cavan General Hospital because her application for a 24 hour 7 homecare package was rejected.

The calls come as a public consultation process is now open where the public can have their say on how a state homecare scheme should operate.
