Case of Leitrim woman with Parkinson’s Disease raised in the Dail



The case of a County Leitrim woman has been discussed in the Dail to illustrate the problems in trying to ensure people can be cared for at home.

Olivia Harte, a 41-year-old mother of two from Co Leitrim is struggling with Parkinsons Disease and has been in intensive care for seven months.

She has been ready for discharge for six months but can’t leave Cavan General Hospital as her application for an intensive twenty four hour seven homecare package has been rejected.

Sinn Fein TD Mary Lou McDonald says that more needs to be done to ensure that people like Olivia can be cared for at home:
