Immediate funding for western distributor road is vital says local TD



The development of the western distributor road which would link the N4 to IDA lands at Oakfield in Sligo town is ‘imperative’ to the development of the region.

That’s according to Sligo/Leitrim TD Eamon Scanlon who has called on the government to immediately provide funds for the development of the roadway.

The road would connect the N4 network with lands owned by the IDA in Oakfield, at the Caltragh Junction.

Deputy Scanlon said that because the Finisklin industrial estate is full to capacity, it restricts the potential to attract further employment and business to Sligo.

He warned that IDA lands at Oakfield will never be developed unless a suitable roadway is constructed:
