Farmers ready for second night of sit-in at Department offices



Farmers from the West of Ireland intend to spend their second night at the Department of Agriculture offices in Dublin tonight in protest at the proposed tillage crisis fund that was announced last year

Grain farmers from the west of Ireland have been holding a sit-in at at the Department since yesterday evening.

It’s reported that a €5,000 maximum payment limit per farmer under the fund is planned.

Peter Lynch, the Grain Committee Chairperson in Donegal is one of the IFA members at the sit-in.

He says they will stay there for as long as it takes to get this resolved.
