The National Broadband Plan has again been delayed



The National Broadband Plan has again been delayed.

Minister Denis Naughten has said that he does not expect any develoments with the scheme over the next 18 months.

According to the Central Statistics Office latest figures from last years census, 61.1% of rural areas have broadband. Also, in the ‘West’ region, the figure stands at 52% of households that have a fixed broadband connection as oppossed to mobile broadband, and in the ‘Border’ region, the figure stands at 76%.

Speaking to Ocean FM, Independent TD for Donegal, Thomas Pringle said that some rural areas may not see any improvments for 5 years.
