No arrests following unsavory scenes at the Showgrounds last night

Gardaí in Sligo have confirmed to Ocean FM News this morning that no arrests were made following ugly scenes at the end of last night’s game between Sligo Rovers and Shamrock Rovers at the Showgrounds.

A number of people jumped the perimeter at the away end of the Jinks’ Avenue Stand at full-time and attempted to make their way to the Sligo support at the other end of the stand.

Gardaí and ground safety stewards quickly apprehended the men before escorting them away from the pitch. One of the men was led away in handcuffs but was not subsequently charged.

Sligo Rovers beat Shamrock Rovers by a goal to nil, lifting the Bit O’Red out of the relegation zone.
