Sligo University Hospital has implemented a new visiting policy in it’s maternity unit.
From today, Saturday July 1st, visiting in the maternity unit will only be open to partners until 8.30pm while Granparents and siblings are permittied to visit between 6.30pm and 8.30pm.
All other visitors will not be allowed to visit under nomral conditions, only in exceptional circumstances which will be at the discretion of the Clinical Midwifery Manager or Midwife in charge.
Juliana Henry who is the Director of Midwifery in Sligo University Hospital, said that the changes were made following feedback from new mothers and staff. Director henry said of the change that it’s; ‘to ensure that mothers have the time to recover and get as much rest as possible following the births of their babies.’
