Sligo business improvement group hoping to scoop a double this week



The Sligo Business Improvement District is expected to pick up its purple flag for another year later this week.

Representatives from the BID will travel to Bournemouth tomorrow for what they hope will be a double honour to collect the flag and they have also been shortlisted for an award to recognise Sligo’s achievement in becoming one of the first first ‘Designated-coach-friendly town in Ireland’ earlier this year.

There are now 17 designated coach-parking spaces around Sligo town and the BID is working on a new initiative with local businesses to make Sligo even more attractive for bus-drivers to stop off in.

The annual Association Town City Management Awards takes place in Bournemouth in the UK tomorrow (Thursday).
