New figures show one fifth of patients in Donegal waiting for breast cancer appointment



New figures show that one fifth of Donegal Patients are waiting more than a year for a breast cancer clinic appointment.

The figures were received from the HSE by Sinn Féinn Finance Spokesperson and Donegal TD, Pearse Doherty.

Of the 732 women reffered to the symptomatic breast cancer clinic at Letterkenny University Hospital by their GP, 143 have waited for over a year while a further 245 people have been waiting 6 months or more.

The service in Letterkenny University Hospital is a satellite service provided by galway University Hospital which is one of eight symptomatic breast cancer clinics funded by the HSE across the country.

Speaking to Ocean FM news, Deputy Doherty says that he feel that this is a life and death issue.
