A Leitrim Councillor is calling for re-offenders not to be granted legal aid.
Fianna Fail Councillor Justin Warnock made the calls at a meeting of the Joint Policing Committee this week.
He says the money spent on repeat offenders could be used to provide improved resources for the local Gardai as well as health services:
Councillor Warnock says that the system is not working and it’s costing the tax-payer a fortune.
