Leitrim County Council to put in new markings and signage at Manorhamilton traffic lights



Leitrim County Council is putting up extra signage and line markings to help road-users in Manorhamilton activate the new traffic lights properly.

There have been complaints that when you are coming onto the junction from Sean MacDiarmada Street the lights are not activating and people are waiting a long time.

However, Ocean FM News can confirm that the lights work through a ‘loop’ or wire in the road which is activated when traffic stops at the white line before the pedestrian crossing at the stop sign.

Shay O’Connor, Senior Engineer with Leitrim County Council explains that alot of cars are going beyond the white line and they are not being detected.

He has confirmed to Ocean FM News that extra signage and road markings are due to be in place before the end of July to inform people exactly where to stop:
