Gerry Adams says retiring Cllr Sean McManus represents Sligo’s contribution to the Peace Process.

The Sinn Fein Leader was in Sligo last night for the retirement dinner of the former Councillor who stepped down earlier this year after nearly 30 years on the Local Authority.

Local politicians and Sinn Fein members gathered for the event in the Great Southern Hotel.

Gerry Adams told Ocean FM that the party is going through an important transitional time at the moment and alluded to his own retirement as part of that.

While not mentioning exactly when, he says a consultation with grassroots is underway and he paid tribute to Sean McManus’ contribution:’
