Rovers boss convinced his side can go on a winning run

Sligo Rovers head to Dalymount Park in Dublin looking for their first win in six games this evening, when they take on Bohemians.

The Bit O’ Red have drawn four of their last five games, and sit just outside the relegation places.

But manager Gerard Lyttle believes they are close to a return to winning says…

Daniel Kearns is close to a return to action following a lengthy spell on the sidelines through injury.

The winger has been training this week, and could come in to contention for inclusion in the squad for tomorrow’s trip to Dalymount Park to face Bohemians.

New signings Benny Igiehon and Rhys McCabe will be eligible from July, while Gary Armstrong is back training with the team and will also be available again from next month.

The Rovers boss says they need the extra options…

Meanwhile, new striker Benny Igiehon says he has been encouraged by what he has seen since coming to the club.

The former Scarborough United frontman has been training with the squad for the past three weeks, and says the team have been unlucky to not pick up wins in that time…

Kick-off tonight is at 7.45pm, the same time as Finn Harps take on reigning champions Dundalk in Oriel Park.

Meanwhile, Sligo Rovers’ next home game has been pushed back 24 hours.

The fixture against Shamrock Rovers was due to be played on Saturday week, July 1, but has been rearranged for the Sunday evening with kick-off at 6pm at the Showgrounds.

The re-fixture is because of Shamrock Rovers’ tie against FC Stjarnan of Iceland on the Thursday beforehand in the Europa League.

The highly anticipated northwest derby between Finn Harps and Derry City, scheduled for this night week in Finn Park has been postponed with the Candystripes set to travel to FC Midtjylland in Denmark in the Europa League on the Thursday.

A new date for the Harps game will be set in due course.

The financial impact is likely to be keenly felt by Harps, who would have been hoping for a bumper crowd for the home game against their near-neighbours.

The club say they will be issuing a further statement on the matter in due course.
