€2million in funding allocated to upgrade homes in Cranmore

Sligo County Council is to implement a new pilot scheme to upgrade many homes in Cranmore.

€2million in funding has been allocated to upgrade homes on the three oldest streets in Cranmore Estate. There are 96 homes on the streets and while just under half are owned by the Council, all of them will be surveyed to see if they can improve on energy efficiency measures.

Also, over thirty of the homes will be surveyed to upgrade kitchens, bathroom, heating and electric infrastructure.

Sinn Feinn Councillor Chris MacManus has welcomed the news saying that ‘this pilot scheme should be a pre-cursor for similar works’ and that ‘this cannot happen soon enough.

Speaking to Ocean FM News, Councillor MacManus said that he has asked the Council to prioritise Old Person’s Dwellings.
