South Sligo Councillor warns of serious safety concern at Ballymote railway station

Sligo County Council is liaising with Irish Rail in relation a number of gaps in a hedgerow on a road which stretches over Ballymote Train Station.

The gaps have appeared over recent months on the Ballymote to Bunninaden road which leads on to a bridge over the railway. There is a drop of approximately 14 feet from the road on to the station car park below.

Independent Councillor Margaret Gormely brought up the issue at a recent meeting of Sligo County Council. She says she has been contacted by a number of concerned people in the locality who regularly use the road.

Councillor Gormley says the issue must be dealt with urgently.
