Sligo County Council to interview for posts over Skype

Sligo County Council will soon interview people applying for jobs within the council over Skype.

The decision was taken following a motion put forward at a recent meeting of the council by outgoing Mayor of Sligo Marie Casserly.

Councillor Casserly said she was contacted by families of local people now living abroad who wished to apply for positions within the council. She said that these applicants were left disappointed as the council could only interview people face-to-face.

Speaking to Ocean Fm News, Councillor Casserly said that with many emigrants gaining experience whilst working abroad, it would be to the council’s advantage to have these people back home and working in the area. She said that other local authorities and businesses have seen the advantages of such a move in the recent past.
