X-ray dept. upgrades for Donegal and Killybegs hospitals



Donegal and Killybegs are among four community hospitals in County Donegal that are to benefit from a total allocation of €900,000 to improve their x-ray units.

The money will go to hospitals in Donegal, Killybegs, Dungloe and Carndonagh.

Donegal Fianna Fail TD Pat ‘the Cope’ Gallagher says Killybegs Community Hospital will be the first to have new digital x-ray equipment installed.

Refurbishment is ongoing at present to acccomodate the new equipment in Killybegs, which will result in the x-ray department being temporarily closed for two months from June 15th.

During this period, patients for x-ray will be referred to Donegal Town Community Hospital

The Donegal Town hospital’s equipment will then be updated.

Deputy Gallagher says the investment will be of benefit to people in what are mainly rural areas:
