Approval for N56 works between Mountcharles and Drumbeigh

Transport Infrastructure Ireland has given the go ahead for improvement works to the N56 between Mountcharles and Drumbeigh.

The first phase of works, between Turris Hill and Drumbeigh will go to tender by next month to be returned by the end of August.

The proposed works will involve the construction of a three kilometre stretch of single carriageway and starts at the tie-in with the Mountcharles by-pass.

Although welcoming the news, Donegal Fianna Fáil Deputy Pat the Cope Gallagher said a lot more needed to be done to improve the road, which is the main artery between Killybegs Port and the rest of the country.
