7,000 students across region begin exams this morning



Over seven thousand secondary school students get their state exams underway in schools across the region this morning.

In County Sligo, 1,600 students will take their exams while in County Leitrim that figure stands at approximately one thousand. The highest number of candidates sitting exams in the region is in Donegal, where just under five thousand commence their exams.

Today sees leaving cert students tackle English paper one in the morning before home economics in the afternoon.

While those doing the junior cert take on English and CSPE.

A total of 119,000 students will sit state examinations across the country over the next few weeks.
