Yeats Day to take place on June 13th



Sligo will celebrate Yeats Day this year on Tuesday June 13th.

It is the sixth year that the town will mark the occasion.

This year, it falls on the actual day of the Nobel Prize-winning poet’s birth 152 years ago.

There will be a day-long celebration of poetry with readings in the library, around Sligo Town, in the Yeats Society, at the poet’s grave in Drumcliffe and in the Factory performance space.

As well as celebrating Yeats’s birthday, there will also be ongoing events from June 10th to 18th focusing on the lives of the poet’s two sisters known as Lily and Lolly, who were involved in crafts, printing and publishing.
