Just over half of constituency FG members turn out to vote in leadership ballot



Just over half of the Fine Gael members throughout Sligo/Leitrim and South Donegal who were eligible to vote in the leadership contest turned up and cast their ballot in The Sligo Park Hotel yesterday evening.

West Cavan voters cast their ballots in Cootehill the previous day.

The result of the leadership race will be announced later today – after TDs, Senators and MEPs have all cast their ballots.

This afternoon counting will begin with the members votes counted first – they account for 25% of the total in the electoral college system.

The councillors votes which are worth 10% will then be counted and declared.
