Retailers urged to make views known on effects of smuggling



Small retailers in the North West are being encouraged to make their views on the smuggling trade and how it is affecting their business known today.

The association known as Retailers Against Smuggling (RAS) is holding a poster and social media campaign awareness launch today where they are trying to give small retailers in particular a voice.

They want people to tweet their stories to @Sayno2smuggling.

The association represents small and medium-sized retailers across Ireland and it aims to highlight the illicit trade in tobacco, alcohol and solid fuels.

Benny Gilsenan is a spokesperson for the group and he has outlined to Ocean FM News just how badly this issue is affecting small retailers, especially in border areas:
