There are calls for the new leader of Fine Gael to radically reform the current process of Garda Vetting.
Sligo Leitrim TD Martin Kenny raised the issue with the current Taoiseach Enda Kenny this week in the Dail.
The Sinn Fein TD said that Mr Kenny agreed with him that the current system where you have to be vetted for each individual organisation doesn’t make sense.
He is committed to reforming the system which Martin Kenny says is also leading the lengthy waiting lists at present:
