People are being asked to give themselves plenty of time to renew passports as the holiday season sets in.
Sligo Leitrim TD Eamon Scanlon says he knows a lot of people who are getting caught out especially with children’s passports.
The current turnaround time for the Passport Express renewal service is at least 22 working days which means it could take at least 6 weeks to get it back.
Deputy Scanlon is calling on the Minister for Foreign Affairs to undertake an information campaign on the issue.
