Healy: Let’s not wait for another winter of flooding, action needed now



There are calls for the Local Authority to take action against flooding in the south Sligo area now and not wait for another winter to set in.

Sinn Fein Councillor Thomas Healy is one of a number of local representatives to add his voice to the calls for action to be taken on flood management on the Owenmore river in particular.

It follows an extensive assessment done by the OPW earlier this year which identified Ballisodare, Collooney and Sligo as high risk areas.

While money has been allocated for repair work in these areas, just €26,000 is going towards river management.
