A parish on the Leitrim/Sligo border is preparing for a major celebration this coming weekend.
Local man Edward Cosgrove was ordained last Sunday to the priesthood in the Jesuits’ Milltown Park Chapel in Dublin.
He has been studying for the priesthood for the past 10 years, and spent last three in the Jesuit School of Theology at the University of Toronto, in Canada.,
On this Sunday, he will celebrate his first Mass in Ballinagare church, which is across the road from his home in County Leitrim.
Before joining the Jesuits, Fr Eddie studied engineering and worked as a civil engineer in Dublin.
He is a native of the parish of Killenummery and Killery, of which Fr Vincent Connaughton is parish Priest.
Fr Connaughton says Fr Eddie’s first Mass will be an occasion of celebration and thanksgiving:
