Mullaghamore beach in county Sligo has dropped a grade in the EPA’s quality report on water quality published today.
The study monitors the quality of bathing water in coastal and inland waterways.
Mullaghmore has dropped from its ususal ‘excellent’ standard down to just ‘good’ this year.
Enniscrone is the only other beach ranked ‘good’ as opposed to ‘excellent’.
However, Peter Webster of the Environmental Protection Agency which carried out the study says despite this swimmers at Enniscrone and Mullaghmore have no cause for concern:
