Taoiseach to step down as FG leader at midnight



The Taoiseach is stepping down as party leader from midnight tonight.

Enda Kenny’s also asking for the election of his successor to be expedited and announced by June 2nd.

He’ll continue as Taoiseach until sometime in June in order to let his successor have talks with other parties.

Fine Gael TD for Sligo/Leitrim Tony McLoughlin was at this evening’s parliamentary party meeting.

He spoke to Ocean FM News and described the events of this afternoon:
