There has been a broad welcome for the news that a new bus service is to be provided from the North Leitrim area to the county’s capital town, Carrick on Shannon.
At yesterday’s meeting of the Manorhamilton Municipal District of Leitrim County Council, Independent Councillor Felim Gurn proposed that the council consider subsidising a bus service between Manorhamilton and Carrick on Shannon.
He pointed out that Bus Eireann currently links the two towns but it’s through Sligo, with journey times varying from between two and six hours.
However, following yesterday’s meeing, Cllr Gurn told Ocean Fm News that Rural Link is now to provide a new service.
He says it will be a great benefit to people in North Leitrim who don’t drive or haven’t a car.
