Kearns remains out as Rovers travel to Dundalk

Sligo Rovers travel to Dundalk tonight in the SSE Airtricity Premier Division.

The Bit O’ Red are looking to build on a 3-0 win over Limerick last week in The Showgrounds as manager Gerard Lyttle secured his first win at the club.

In team news, Daniel Kearns is out with a thigh problem. He will see a specialist early next week with a view to a return in the near future.

Martin Walsh has been added to the squad from the club’s Under-19 side.

Lyttle: “We take a lot of confidence from the game against Limerick. It was an important win for us and overdue, but it was just one win as well.

“We’ve said to the players that our season has started now. We haven’t been picking up enough points and we have to do so on a consistent basis from now on.

“The best part of the Limerick game was the team performance. We started by pressing them, getting into their faces and we scored good goals. There was some negative points as well of course, which we have to work on, and improve further.

“All that has come before stays in the past now. Our season started after that Limerick game as I said and this is a big test for us. Dundalk have outstanding players and an outstanding manager.

They have struggled for form and we hope that will continue for this game as well. But we focus on ourselves, our own approach to the game and trying to come away with another positive result.”
