Donegal councillor wants help for towns and villages with funding applications



A Donegal county councillor is calling on the council to give more help to local community groups in towns and villages looking for funding under various grants and schemes.

Under a new town and village renewal scheme announced recently by Minister Heather Humphreys, towns and villages must do a so-called ‘health check’ of what they need.

But Independent Councillor Niamh Kennedy says this must be done by September.

She feels this does not give local groups the time they need

Speaking at this week’s Donegal Municipal District meeting of the council, she says such groups need all the help they can get in their efforts to be eligible for funding that becomes available..
