HSE says Carrigans Day Centre in North Sligo has reopened

The HSE says the Carrigans Day Centre in Maugherow reopened yesterday, Wednesday.

Earlier this week, Sinn Fein Councillor Thomas Healy said elderly people who attend the centre in North Sligo were told on a number of recent occasions that it would not be open on the morning they planned to go there.

He claimed people who use the centre got phone calls after 9 o clock in the morning telling them it will not be open that day.

In a response to Ocean FM News, the HSE says Carrigans Day Centre operates three days per week on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday, providing a day service to elderly people in the North Sligo area.

However, the HSE says that due to unforeseen circumstances the centre had to close last week and on Monday last.

The HSE added that all clients were notified of the temporary closure.

It also says it wishes to apologise for any inconvenience caused to clients.
