Donegal launches campaign against roadside signs, advertisements

Donegal County Council is starting a campaign across the county to remove illegal road signs for the tourist season.

Advertisement signs along public roads require the approval of the County Council through a license or planning permission while temporary signs for non-commercial local events are accepted so long as they do not have an impact on road safety and adhere to regulations.

The Council will be arranging the removal of illegal signs over the coming weeks; they will be stored for either a month after the owner is notified or 6 weeks after it was taken down, whichever come first.

Speaking to Ocean FM News, Senior Engineer in the Roads Department of Donegal County Coucnil, Brendan O’Donnell, explained why the campaign was being launched.
