ICMSA speaks out about ‘British only’ beef policy by UK supermarket, Co-Op

The Irish Creamery Milk Suppliers Associations has spoken out about the decision on ‘British Only’ beef policy by UK supermarket giant, Co-op
John Comer, President of the ICMSA, said that it was ‘clumsy and unfeasible’ to introduce such a policy. Mr Comer believes that ‘everyone – including supermarket chains – should operate on the basis of patience and progress’ towards a mutually beneficial deal.
Ireland currently exports 54% of it’s beef to the UK and 60% of Irish Cheddar Cheese and these measures could affect those statistics.
Speaking to Ocean FM News, Mr. Comer said that if there are tariffs on trade between the EU and the Eu, it will have negative effects for farmers in the country
