Carbury, Manor and Ballisodare all advance in Northwest Hospice Cup

There were a number of big games in the Northwest Hospice Cup and Shield competitions last night.

Super League leaders Carbury hosted reigning league champions Boyle Celtic at Sean Fallon Park in their cup quarter-final encounter.

Niall O’Donoghue opened the scoring for Boyle before Dylan Edwards levelled.

Former Sligo Rovers striker Keith Carty struck the winner late on for Carbury, to book their spot in the semi-finals away to Manor Rangers.

Manor claimed an impressive win at home in the Bee Park against St John’s.

Niall Walsh netted all four goals for the Leitrim side, though Stephen Armstrong and David Heffernan each scored in response for the Carraroe side.

Ballisodare United were 5-0 winners against Ballymote Celtic – Andrew Patton, Darragh Healy, Simon Gilmartin and Gavin Phelan scored for Ballisodare, with Patton netting twice.

Ballisodare now await the winners of Sunday’s game between Aughanagh Celtic and Yeats United.

In the Shield, MCR beat Ballygawley Celtic 3-1 thanks to two goals from Joe Cobbe and a third from Ciaran Harvey. Ross McLoughlin scored for Ballygawley.

MCR face Arrow Harps or Cliffoney Celtic in the semi-finals.

Dromore Villa face Real Tubber in the other semi-final.
