Friday is deadline to apply for school transport



This Friday is the deadline for receipt of applications for the school transport scheme.

It provides transport to pupils who live 3.2 kilometres from primary school and 4.8 kilometres from post-priamry school.

Sligo Sinn Fein Councillor Thomas Healy says a recurring problem with the scheme is that pupils who are not attending their nearest school are not guaranteed a place on the bus, even when their application is successful.

Cllr Healy says it’s important everyone who needs school transport get their applications in before this Friday.

He adds it’s another service that needs to be kept for future generations:
