Carew says Sligo ‘well aware’ of the threat that New York pose

Sligo boss Niall Carew says that preparations have been going well for this weekend’s championship opener against New York, despite the loss of a number of players.

Attacker Niall Murphy has been ruled out with a hamstring injury, while Gerard O’Kelly-Lynch, Kevin McDonnell and Luke Nicholson will miss out because of exam commitments.

Sligo have been training on the 4G pitches at the Connacht GAA Centre and at St Loman’s GAA Club in Mullingar in preparation for the artificial surface they will face at Gaelic Park in The Bronx, and Carew is happy his side are ready for championship action…

Throw-in for Sunday’s game is at 8.15pm Irish time and the game will be live and in full on Ocean FM with thanks to Quinn Fix Garage & Car Sales, and O’Flanagan’s Bar, Restaurant & Live Music venue, New York.
