There are calls from a Donegal TD for the government to recognise the role Fire Service Personnel played in 1916.
Donegal TD and Minister of State for the Diaspora and International Development, Joe McHugh, is calling for Fire Services to be given 1916 Commemoration Medals.
As fire services in Ireland are run by local authorities and not a national organisation like the Gardai, he believes this has been an oversight not to recognise their contribution and believes there should be a national award.
Junior Minister Joe McHugh told Ocean FM why he believes they deserve an award.
