Animal rescue founder closes service due to ‘abuse and lack of support’

The founder of a voluntary animal rescue service in Sligo says she has closed down the operation because of abuse and lack of support.

The closure of the service comes as demand grows because of people who want to get rid of dogs as well as animals being abandoned.

The problem of unwanted and abandoned dogs is made worse by the lack of foster homes for the animals.

Speaking to Ocean FM News, she pointed out what she was doing was not her job but rather a volunteer activity.
