Funeral of Cllr Sean McEniff takes place today



The funeral takes place in Bundoran, Co Donegal, today of Ireland’s longest-serving councillor, Sean McEniff.

The well-known Fianna Fail man, hotelier and tourism promoter, was 81. He had been a councillor for 55 years.

His remains will be removed this morning at 11:30 from his home in Bundoran to the Star of the Sea Church, where Requim Mass will beging at noon.

Burial will follow in St Ninnidh’s Cemetery.

One of Councillor McEniff’s closest friends was the former European Commissioner, Tanaiste and Finance Minister Ray MacSharry, from Sligo.
