Car sales in the North West have dropped in 2017



Car sales in the North West region have dropped compared to 2016.

 
The Society of the Irish Motor Industry in association with DoneDeal have issued their first quarter report on car sales for 2017. New car sales nationally are down 8% compared with this time last year.

 
LGV’s and HGV’s are also down by 10.7% and 2.7% respectively.

 
Car sales in County Sligo have decreased by 10.3%, Leitrim saw a decrease of 3.6% while Donegal saw a whopping 19% drop which is the largest decrease in the country. No county in Ireland saw an increase in car sales.

 
Also according to the report, Petrol prices have increased by 14.3% and Diesel by 18.7% compared to March last year.

 
Alan Nolan of SIMI said that ‘2017 is still shaping up to be a good year’ and that ‘the second quarter of 2017 will hopefully give us a clearer picture’
