A new stroke support group will be launched in Sligo next week, on Wednesday April 26th.
Irish Heart along with Sligo University Hospital and the North West Stroke Group, have come together to bring the new initiative to stroke sufferers and their carers.
Local groups have been set up nationally by Irish Heart and this will be the twelfth such group.
The aim is to offer a place for support, advice and physical therapies for people affected by stroke to come together on a weekly basis to share their experiences.
The launch is in the Radisson Hotel Sligo, on Wednesday April 26th from 7 to 8.45pm.
Speakers will include Dr Paula Hickey, consultant geriatrician at Sligo university hospital; Edward Blake of the North West Support Group; and Clinical Nurse Specialist in Stroke Care at Sligo University Hospital, Una Moffatt.
Weekly meetings will begin in May.
