Flood relocation scheme not likely to apply to Drumlonagher in Donegal



A Donegal woman who had to move out of her home after severe flooding says she does not think a new government relocation scheme will apply to people in her area.

Mary McGowan was one of the residents badly hit by flooding in Drumlonagher near Donegal Town in November 2015.

Art least ten homes were flooded in the area at the time.

However, it’s thought the new relocation scheme, which covers a period of flooding from December 4th 2015 to January 13th 2016, would not apply to Drumlonagher for a number or reasons.

It’s also only for homes that cannot be protected by any future planned or possible protection measures.

And as Mary McGowan told Ocean FM News, people would find it very hard to move out of a place that had been their home for decades:
