Donegal campaigner claims ‘back door’ still open for water charges

The chairman of the water services committee says the group came up with the ‘best possible option’ that they could.

But a Donegal anti-charges campaigner fears charges could still be brought in.

Members of the committee approved a final report last night, and it’s going up for debate in the Dail this evening, before a vote tomorrow.

Fine Gael and Fianna Fail are expected to ensure that’s passed comfortably.

Independent Senator Padraig O’Ceidigh believes he himself, and the committee, did all they could, given the challenges they faced.

But Donegal ‘Can’t Pay Won’t Pay’ campaigner Liam Whyte believes the back door remains open for the introduction of water charges in the future.
